The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting a Biology Expert to produce and review biology-related content used for training generative models. You will create or improve expert answers, compare model outputs to scientific standards, and explain judgments so feedback can be incorporated into model training.

• Position type: Part-time contractor, remote, worldwide.
• Estimated commitment: about 20 hours per week for 1–3 months.

What You’ll Do

• Write or refine expert responses to biology prompts and explain your reasoning clearly.
• Review source materials and model outputs against detailed project guidelines and rubrics.
• Provide clear, actionable feedback that helps improve model behavior and scientific accuracy.
• Maintain consistency and high quality across repeated annotation and evaluation tasks.

Requirements

The project requires strong domain expertise and the ability to communicate scientific reasoning in clear written form.

• PhD in biology or a closely related life science field (required).
• Relevant professional, academic, or language expertise in biology AI training.
• Fluency in English and excellent written communication skills.
• Scientific data analysis and critical evaluation skills.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions, apply rubrics consistently, and work autonomously.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to scientific accuracy.

Compensation & Schedule

Compensation is hourly and paid to contractors. The role is scoped as part-time work with flexible scheduling around the estimated weekly hours.

• Pay: $80–$90 USD per hour (typical posted rate $90/hr, hourly min $80, max $90).
• Estimated project earnings: $12,800–$14,400 based on roughly 20 hours/week for 1–3 months.
• Schedule: ~20 hours per week, flexible; remote work from anywhere.
