The role
We are hiring Biology & Biophysics Research Collaborators to support scientific reasoning tasks for frontier AI systems. You will review primary research for rigor and novelty, craft challenging evaluation problems, and judge model outputs against the standards an active researcher would apply.
This role is designed for individuals operating at the edge of molecular biology, biophysics, structural biology, immunology, neuroscience, genomics, and related life-science disciplines.
What you'll do
Review biology and biophysics research papers for rigor, novelty, and scientific validity
Author and critique challenging problems and prompts used to train and evaluate models
Evaluate model outputs on mechanism prediction, experimental design, and literature interpretation
Identify failure modes and subtle errors that a working PhD researcher would catch quickly
Collaborate with a small program team and other senior contributors to refine tasks and scoring rubrics
Required qualifications
You must have a demonstrable record of high-quality, frontier-level research and active research experience.
First-author or co-first-author publications in top scientific journals
Doctoral or postdoctoral training in the life sciences or a related STEM field
Current or recent active research experience (PhD candidate, postdoc, faculty, principal scientist, industry researcher, etc.)
Experience reviewing research for rigor, novelty, and scientific validity
Ability to author challenging scientific questions for model training and evaluation
Named PI or Co-Investigator grants, patents, or spin-out company experience
Strong publication record and evidence of frontier-level research output
Logistics, compensation, and scope
Commitment: 20+ hours per week. Employment: contractor, part-time. Location: applicants must be located in the United States.
Data and task types: document-focused tasks involving evaluation ratings and text-generation assessment.
Compensation: pay-per-hour at USD $80–$110/hour (listed hourly rate $110/hr; range $80–$110).
