The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Biology AI Training Expert to review biology-related data, prompts, scenarios, questions, and explanations used in AI development workflows. You will help improve the accuracy, relevance, and depth of model outputs in the biological domain through detailed feedback, content refinement, iterative review, and clear documentation.

The role is listed as entry level and is structured as a part-time contractor engagement. It is worldwide, requires less than 20 hours per week, and pays $80 to $90 per hour.

What You'll Do

You will contribute expert biological judgment throughout iterative AI training and review cycles. Your feedback will help improve dataset quality, subject coverage, representativeness, and the scientific reliability of system outputs.

• Critically evaluate biology-related data, prompts, and content used in AI development workflows
• Create, review, and refine scientific scenarios, questions, and explanations for complex biological problems
• Provide expert-level feedback to improve the accuracy, relevance, and depth of AI training datasets and system outputs
• Document findings, methodologies, and rationale to support transparency and reproducibility
• Participate in iterative review cycles and knowledge-sharing sessions with interdisciplinary experts
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve biological data quality, coverage, and representativeness

Requirements

This role requires advanced academic training in biology or a closely related life science field, along with the ability to assess scientific material rigorously and explain the reasoning behind your feedback.

• PhD in biology or a closely related life science discipline
• Strong understanding of core biological principles and scientific reasoning
• Ability to critique biology-related prompts, scenarios, and explanations for scientific accuracy
• Experience reviewing research or analyzing scientific data with attention to rigor
• Experience with scientific data analysis, critical evaluation of research, or synthesis of complex subject matter
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to provide clear written rationale for feedback
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently
• Comfort working independently on iterative review tasks

Helpful Background

Experience contributing to interdisciplinary scientific or technology-focused projects can be valuable in this role. Direct exposure to AI workflows is helpful but is not required.
