About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect experts with projects that teach and refine AI systems — from annotating data to evaluating model outputs — and let contributors start, grow, and manage AI-training careers in one place.

About AI Training Work

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Contributors review, rate, and improve model outputs so modern AI systems learn correct reasoning and trustworthy facts.

These projects are commonly remote and flexible, and they give subject-matter experts direct influence on how state-of-the-art models behave.

The Role

We are hiring a biologist to evaluate AI-generated biological answers and provide expert feedback. You will assess biological reasoning, factual accuracy, methodology, and clarity, and produce model answers and explanations when needed.

  • Employment type: Contractor (remote, worldwide).
  • Data type: Text.
  • Labeling tasks: Evaluation/rating, text generation, question answering, RLHF-style review.

What You'll Do

Your primary responsibilities are to judge correctness and reasoning quality in AI responses and to produce clear, evidence-based feedback and model solutions.

  • Assess AI answers for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to prompts.
  • Identify errors in experimental methodology, conceptual understanding, or biological logic.
  • Fact-check biological claims using public scientific and technical sources.
  • Write high-quality biological explanations and step-by-step model solutions.
  • Rate or compare multiple AI responses based on correctness and reasoning quality.

Requirements

This role requires formal life-science training and hands-on scientific reasoning experience.

  • BS degree or higher in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Physiology, or a closely related life-science field.
  • Degree must be from a top 100 university.
  • Strong knowledge of human and animal biology, molecular pathways, physiology, and disease or health fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate biological reasoning and step-by-step scientific problem-solving.
  • Experience with lab, experimental, or research-based reasoning in biology or related life sciences.
  • Strong fact-checking ability using public scientific and technical sources.
  • Excellent written English skills (C1 proficiency or higher) and ability to explain advanced biological concepts clearly.
  • Comfortable reviewing AI-generated answers for correctness, clarity, prompt adherence, and conceptual soundness.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in data labeling, RLHF, AI model evaluation, or similar AI training workflows is preferred.

Compensation & Schedule

This is an hourly contractor role paid in USD. Work is remote and typically allows flexible scheduling; specific shift expectations vary by project.

  • Pay type: Hourly (USD).
  • Hourly range: $25–$55/hr; typical rate noted as $45/hr.
  • Contractor role — you will be engaged and paid per the project's contractor terms.
