About OpenTrain
OpenTrain is the centralized, open platform where AI training and data-labeling freelancers find work, consolidate opportunities across platforms, and build a unified AI training portfolio they control. We make specialized AI training work easier to track, apply for, and grow into a durable freelance career.

Why work with OpenTrain
OpenTrain gives freelancers one place to manage AI training opportunities instead of rebuilding proof of work on every platform. A stronger OpenTrain profile helps you show credible experience, discover roles that match your skills, and turn AI training and data-labeling work into a long-term portfolio.

About this role
OpenTrain is recruiting a bilingual Italian scientific AI safety evaluator to help improve how advanced AI models handle specialized technical topics. You will create expert prompts in Italian, assess model responses for scientific accuracy and helpfulness, evaluate their treatment of sensitive content, and classify prompts and conversations using structured guidelines. This role is suited to a scientist who can apply deep subject-matter judgment to AI training and model evaluation across chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear topics.

What you will do
Write expert-level prompts in Italian across specialized scientific subjects. Evaluate and annotate model responses for scientific accuracy, helpfulness, and responsible handling of sensitive content. Classify prompts and conversations according to structured evaluation guidelines. Apply scientific safety judgment when reviewing dual-use information. Use laboratory or computational expertise to identify reliable, appropriate, and technically sound responses.

Required skills
You should have an ongoing or completed PhD in chemistry, biology, or a closely related field, with the depth to write and evaluate technical content across relevant scientific subject areas. Native or near-native Italian fluency and business-level written English are required. You should have deep familiarity with modern laboratory or computational techniques in a scientific subfield, strong technical writing and evaluation skills in Italian, and sound judgment regarding scientific safety and responsible handling of dual-use information. Prior AI or machine learning experience is not required, and workflow training is provided.

Helpful background
Relevant experience may include organic or inorganic synthesis, molecular biology, microbiology, virology, genetics, radiochemistry, nuclear chemistry, energetic materials, or radiation physics. Research or coursework involving chemical safety and security, biosafety and biosecurity, hazardous-materials handling, or the review, grading, or red-teaming of technical content is also valuable. The role is remote, with a preference for candidates in Italy or Western Europe, while qualified scientists elsewhere are welcome to contribute.

Schedule and pay
This is remote, part-time contract work with a commitment of 7 hours per week. The pay rate is $50‑$54 per hour.
