The Role
OpenTrain AI is seeking a mid-to-senior Bash and/or PowerShell engineer to review AI-generated scripting answers and troubleshooting workflows. You will assess technical correctness, safety, readability, performance, and portability across environments while helping create better automation-focused training content.
The work combines software engineering judgment with AI response evaluation. You will fact-check technical details, rate and compare multiple responses, and write high-quality model solutions and explanations that demonstrate shell scripting and automation best practices.

What You'll Do
Your reviews will focus on real-world scripting and infrastructure scenarios. Clear written reasoning is important because your evaluations and model solutions will help improve AI systems' technical accuracy and problem-solving ability.
Evaluate AI-generated Bash and PowerShell scripting answers
Review troubleshooting workflows for correctness and completeness
Identify errors, unsafe patterns, and inaccurate technical claims
Assess scripts for injection risks, unsafe deletes, and other safety concerns
Check readability, performance, portability, edge cases, and shell best practices
Rate and compare multiple AI responses
Write high-quality solutions and step-by-step technical explanations
Review automation content involving DevOps, IT infrastructure, and CI/CD workflows
Requirements
Applicants should have professional experience building, debugging, and maintaining automation scripts in production environments. You must be able to explain technical decisions clearly in written English at a C1 or higher level.
2 to 3 or more years of hands-on Bash and/or PowerShell scripting experience
Professional experience in DevOps, IT automation, or infrastructure roles
Demonstrated experience debugging and maintaining production automation scripts
Ability to evaluate security, safety, portability, and edge cases
Experience with Unix tools such as awk, sed, and grep, and/or the PowerShell ecosystem
Familiarity with PowerShell Core, DSC, or Azure PowerShell modules is relevant
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based pull request review, and pipeline scripting
Regular use of LLMs for coding, troubleshooting, prompting, output validation, and issue correction
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related technical field
Strong written English and technical documentation skills
