The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking an Australian Legal AI Response Reviewer to assess how well AI systems answer real questions of Australian law. You will compare responses from two large language model platforms, apply a standardized evaluation rubric, and provide concise written feedback.

This contract, part-time role is designed for experienced in-house legal counsel who can apply practical Australian legal judgment, particularly to commercial and contract matters. The expected commitment is 20 or more hours per week, and compensation is $100–$120 USD per hour.

What You’ll Do

You will evaluate competing AI-generated legal analyses consistently and explain your decisions clearly in writing. Reviews must follow the provided rubric and focus on the accuracy and overall quality of each response.

  • Run the same legal prompts across two AI platforms
  • Compare the resulting answers side by side
  • Score each response against a standardized rubric
  • Identify inaccuracies, omissions, and weaknesses in legal reasoning
  • Submit concise written feedback for every evaluation
  • Apply consistent judgment across a high volume of reviews
  • Handle confidential legal review work professionally under an NDA

Requirements

This role requires substantial Australian legal experience and the ability to distinguish legally sound reasoning from incomplete, inaccurate, or poorly supported answers. You should be comfortable working independently, following structured criteria, and meeting deadlines.

  • At least five years of experience as in-house legal counsel practicing in Australia
  • Strong knowledge of Australian law, especially commercial and contract law
  • Ability to compare competing legal analyses and identify inaccuracies or omissions
