The role
OpenTrain is hiring Australian English voice recording specialists to capture high-quality audio for text-to-speech training and evaluation. This is contract, part-time work for residents of Australia, with a typical commitment under 20 hours per week.
Compensation: USD 50 per hour. You will deliver clear, natural, and expressive speech across conversational, narrative, and instructional scripts while following recording guidelines and providing alternate takes when requested.
What you'll do
Record high-quality voice samples for speech model training and evaluation.
Deliver expressive performances with controlled tone, pacing, and pronunciation.
Maintain consistent voice, accent, and delivery across sessions.
Follow recording guidelines for environment, microphone setup, and file formatting.
Provide alternate takes with different emotion, emphasis, or style when requested.
Requirements
You must meet all of the following to be eligible for this role.
Native English fluency with an authentic Australian accent.
Current residence in Australia.
Experience in voice acting, dubbing, narration, podcasting, or broadcasting.
Access to a professional or near-professional recording setup (quiet environment, quality microphone).
Strong diction, intonation, and emotional range; ability to follow scripts precisely while keeping delivery natural.
Ability to deliver expressive readings with controlled tone and pacing.
Helpful background and tools
Prior recording experience for TTS, audiobooks, IVR systems, or AI voice datasets.
Familiarity with audio editing tools such as Audacity, Adobe Audition, or Reaper.
Ability to perform multiple vocal styles including conversational, corporate, energetic, and calm.
