About AI Training Work
AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. People with technical expertise help models improve by writing examples, reviewing model-generated content, comparing responses, and explaining why one solution is more accurate, secure, reliable, or maintainable than another.
This remote work is part of a fast-growing technology field. Your Android knowledge will help shape how AI systems understand mobile engineering problems and produce useful technical guidance.
The Role
OpenTrain AI is seeking an Android Code Review and AI Training Engineer to evaluate AI-generated Android code, mobile architectures, and technical explanations. You will create high-quality reference implementations and step-by-step reasoning for complex Android problems while fact-checking content and comparing multiple AI responses.
The work covers Jetpack Compose and UI issues, concurrency and threading, memory and performance, app lifecycle behavior, networking, persistence, and Android build and release practices. This is an intermediate-level, remote contractor opportunity requiring 20 or more hours per week.
Employment type: Contractor and part time
Pay: $35 to $110 per hour
Schedule: 20+ hours per week
Primary language: English
Work location: Remote, available in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the Philippines, the United States, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam
What You’ll Do
You will combine production Android engineering judgment with structured AI evaluation. Your reviews should be technically precise, clearly explained, and attentive to subtle implementation flaws, unsafe recommendations, and misleading reasoning.
Review Android code, architecture choices, and technical explanations generated by AI.
Write reference implementations and clear explanations that demonstrate Android best practices.
Rate and compare AI responses for correctness, reasoning quality, security, performance, reliability, clarity, and maintainability.
Create detailed Android prompts and reference answers across multiple technical topics.
Validate Android outputs for inaccuracies, unsafe recommendations, and subtle implementation flaws.
Required Skills And Experience
You should bring strong production Android experience with Kotlin and practical familiarity with Java, along with a methodical approach to evaluating technical reasoning. Clear written English is required.
Deep knowledge of the Android app lifecycle, Activities and Fragments, state restoration, and background execution limits.
Strong experience with Jetpack Compose or Views, including recomposition, state hoisting, and UI performance.
Command of coroutines, Flow, threading best practices, cancellation, race-condition prevention, and ANR avoidance.
Knowledge of MVVM or Clean Architecture, dependency injection, and modularization.
Experience with networking and persistence tools such as Retrofit, OkHttp, Room, SQLite, or DataStore.
Testing experience across unit, instrumentation, and UI tests.
Familiarity with CI/CD and Android build and release workflows.
Strong written English and a careful, systematic approach to reviewing technical content.
Helpful Background
Previous experience with AI data training, annotation, or evaluating AI-generated technical content is a strong advantage. Familiarity with Android code review and debugging workflows will also help you succeed.
AI training or data annotation experience
Evaluation of AI-generated technical content
Android code review experience
Android debugging workflow experience
