About AI training and this work
AI training (data labeling / annotation) is the human side of building modern AI: people prepare, evaluate, and refine the examples models learn from. This job sits at the intersection of visual QA and model evaluation—your judgments help improve model outputs and catch subtle defects that automated checks miss.
100% remote: work from anywhere with a computer and internet.
Flexible part-time work that fits around other commitments.
Accessible: many projects need attention to detail more than prior professional media experience.
The role — AI Video Annotator
OpenTrain is hiring an AI Video Annotator to review AI-generated video edits in high-volume, on-demand batches. You will compare paired outputs, step through footage frame-by-frame, detect visual defects and artifacts, rate outputs against defined criteria, and write concise notes explaining each decision.
This is recurring, remote, contract work with batch deadlines that require dependable turnaround and consistent quality.
Data type: VIDEO — label types: evaluation/rating and classification.
Employment: Contractor, Part-time.
Experience level: Entry level (no professional film/VFX/editing required).
What you'll do day-to-day
You will work through batches of paired or edited video outputs, inspecting visual quality and instruction-following, and documenting clear judgments that guide model improvement.
Compare edited video pairs and rate which output better meets instructions and quality criteria.
Step through footage frame-by-frame to catch subtle defects, artifacts, or temporal issues.
Identify and describe new or previously unseen failure modes.
Write concise, well-reasoned notes that explain each judgment and reference observable evidence.
Deliver completed batches reliably within recurring timelines.
Requirements
We’re looking for careful, dependable reviewers who can produce concise written reasoning and sustain quality across repeated batches.
Sharp attention to detail and patience for frame-by-frame review.
Clear written English and the ability to write short, focused reasoning notes.
Comfort working with digital video and AI-generated media.
Reliability for recurring, on-demand batch work.
No professional film, VFX, or editing experience required—this role is entry level.
Helpful background
The following are not required but can help you get up to speed quickly and be competitive for recurring batches.
Experience reviewing generated media or other quality-sensitive digital content.
A steady, self-directed work style suited to recurring remote batches.
Schedule, pay, and logistics
This is part-time, remote contract work with variable hours driven by batch volume. Expect to commit 20+ hours per week when batch load requires it.
Pay is hourly at $15–$20 USD per hour.
Time requirement: 20+ hours/week (variable based on batch availability).
Pay: $15 to $20 USD per hour (PAY_PER_HOUR).
Language: English (written) required.
Location: Worldwide (remote).
