OpenTrain is the hiring and contracting organization for this role.
Work is 100% remote and flexible so you can fit it around other commitments.
About AI training work
AI training (data labeling/annotation/human feedback) is the human side of building machine intelligence. People review and grade model outputs, annotate examples, and write feedback that teaches models to reason, follow standards, and behave responsibly.
This role focuses on evaluating text responses from generative models and providing precise, standards-based explanations that model developers use to improve performance on accounting, reporting, and tax reasoning tasks.
Typical work is remote, part-time, and task-driven.
Many projects require no prior AI experience—this one requires accounting expertise.
The role
You will review pairs of AI-generated responses to the same accounting problem, judge which answer is stronger, and write a standards-based explanation of your decision. Your feedback will reference GAAP and/or IFRS, financial-statement analysis, and applicable auditing or tax reasoning.
Title: Accounting Response Evaluation Specialist
Employment: Contractor, part-time
Time commitment: 20+ hours per week
Pay: USD $85 per hour (pay-per-hour)
What you'll do
Your day-to-day work centers on careful evaluation of textual model outputs and clear written feedback that highlights correctness, compliance with standards, and reasoning quality.
Compare two AI-generated responses and select the better answer.
Review any provided input files and the model's chain-of-thought or reasoning logs to inform your judgment.
Explain why one response is stronger with reference to GAAP, IFRS, or other relevant guidance.
Provide written feedback aimed at improving model performance on financial-reporting, auditing, and tax tasks.
Complete evaluation ratings and free-text comments (RLHF/EVALUATION_RATING tasks).
Requirements
This is an expert-level role that requires professional accounting knowledge and the ability to explain decisions clearly in English.
Professional experience in accounting, audit, or tax practice.
CPA or equivalent credential, or a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Hands-on familiarity with GAAP and/or IFRS and standards-based judgment.
Financial-statement analysis skills and experience applying accounting guidance to real transactions.
Excellent written communication and strong attention to detail.
Who should apply
Apply if you are an accounting or audit professional who enjoys explaining technical judgments in clear prose and wants to shape how AI systems reason about financial topics. This role suits seasoned practitioners, licensed accountants, or advanced finance graduates with practical reporting experience.
Expert-level candidates with demonstrated accounting, audit, or tax work.
Comfortable producing short, precise written feedback tied to standards.
How it works
As a contractor with OpenTrain you'll complete evaluation tasks that pair two model responses and require a winner selection plus written justification. Tasks are primarily text-based (RLHF and evaluation rating). Work is billed hourly and scheduled to meet the minimum weekly commitment.
Language: English required.
Worldwide applicants accepted; you will be engaged as a contractor.
