The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking an Accounting Reconciliation Task Author to create realistic, numerically rigorous accounting scenarios for training and evaluating advanced AI agents. This is a fully remote, hourly contractor role for experienced finance professionals located in Ireland.

The work is task-based and flexible, with a commitment of 20+ hours per week. Compensation ranges from $60 to $120 per hour.

What You'll Do

You will design accounting tasks that are realistic, solvable, and consistently gradable. Each task should reflect the complexity of real finance workflows while giving AI systems clear opportunities to demonstrate numerical reasoning.

• Author prompts involving payment-to-invoice matching, billing-to-revenue reconciliation, and margin-report analysis
• Write scoring rubrics defining exact numerical outcomes and the reasoning steps required to reach them
• Set up task environments using financial data, documents, and system states
• Solve each task to confirm that the numbers work and the rubric is accurate
• Adjust data complexity, source-document ambiguity, and reasoning requirements to calibrate difficulty
• Review and correct AI-drafted prompts or rubrics when provided

Required Qualifications

This role is suited to candidates with hands-on accounting or finance experience and a strong ability to reason through detailed, multi-step reconciliations. You should be comfortable converting professional knowledge into precise tasks and verifiable evaluation criteria.

• Hands-on experience as an accountant, finance analyst, or in a closely related role
• Strong, precise numerical reasoning and ability to solve multi-step reconciliation problems
• Solid knowledge of revenue recognition principles, matching rules, and standard accounting workflows under IFRS or Irish GAAP
• Ability to define correctness criteria using exact figures, reconciled balances, or documented variance explanations
• Comfort working with financial documents, spreadsheets, and accounting system outputs
• An iterative approach to testing and refining tasks for both difficulty and gradability

Preferred Experience

• Experience in multinational, pharmaceutical, technology, or enterprise B2B finance environments
• Familiarity with ERP or accounting platforms such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite
• ACA, ACCA, CPA Ireland, or an equivalent qualification
• Background in audit, financial controls, or revenue assurance
