About AI Training and Data Evaluation
AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Experts review examples, assess model responses, create reference answers, and explain errors so AI systems can become more accurate, useful, and reliable.
This role brings real-world accounting judgment into that process. Your evaluations can help models reason more effectively about financial statements, journal entries, reconciliations, accounting treatments, and financial-system workflows.
- Work directly with AI-generated content
- Apply professional knowledge to model evaluation
- Provide feedback that improves future outputs
- Participate in a fast-growing area of technology
The Role
OpenTrain is seeking an Accounting and Financial Systems AI Evaluation Expert to review AI-generated accounting work and improve model performance through accurate, practical financial expertise. You will assess accounting treatments, calculations, journal entries, explanations, financial statements, reconciliations, and close workpapers against accounting standards and written evaluation criteria.
The role combines professional accounting judgment with practical knowledge of ERP and financial systems, including platforms such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, Xero, and Dynamics 365. This is a worldwide, remote contractor opportunity for candidates available to work 20 or more hours per week.
- Contractor, part-time opportunity
- Worldwide and remote
- 20+ hours per week
- Hourly compensation of $90-$170 USD
- Intermediate experience level
- English communication at B2 level or above
What You'll Do
You will evaluate the technical accuracy and reasoning quality of AI-generated accounting output. Your work will involve applying written rubrics consistently, identifying errors, and explaining the correct accounting treatment or workflow logic clearly.
You will also create realistic accounting scenarios and reference answers based on current financial practices. When evaluation cases are ambiguous, you will escalate them appropriately and provide feedback that supports better model and system quality.
- Evaluate AI-generated accounting output for technical accuracy and sound reasoning
- Review financial statements, reconciliations, and close workpapers
- Identify misstatements and provide correct treatments with rationale
- Assess accounting workflows and financial-systems logic across ERP and finance platforms
- Rate or rank model output using written evaluation rubrics

- Write clear feedback that helps improve AI-generated results
Required Qualifications
You should have at least three years of hands-on experience in financial accounting, month-end close, corporate accounting, audit, bookkeeping, financial reporting, management or cost accounting, or FP&A that includes substantive accounting work.
Prior paid experience supporting human-data work for AI training is required. This may include annotation, labeling, RLHF, AI-response evaluation, model evaluation, or rubric-based grading.

- Strong written and verbal English communication skills at B2 level or above
- Ability to communicate accounting judgments clearly
Financial Systems Experience
Professional experience with financial systems is important for evaluating both accounting results and the logic behind finance workflows. Strong Microsoft Excel skills are also valued.
Experience with additional finance tools can be useful when assessing system behavior and workflow logic, although the core requirement is practical proficiency with an ERP or comparable financial system.
