AI training depends on real-world examples gathered and prepared by people. Video data collection specialists help create the footage AI systems use to understand activities, environments, movement, and everyday interactions.
This work is part of a growing industry that offers flexible, remote opportunities for contributors who can follow detailed instructions and produce accurate, consistent data. Prior AI experience is not required for this role.
OpenTrain is recruiting a 360 Video Data Collection Specialist to capture high-quality first-person footage. You will begin with a personal smartphone and head strap, then use provided Insta360 equipment as required by the project.
The role combines practical video capture with file management, consent coordination, privacy and safety compliance, metadata accuracy, and reliable delivery of training data. The advertised rate is $8 to $17 per hour.
You will record natural first-person footage and maintain consistent data quality throughout each assignment. Some projects may involve group activities, requiring you to coordinate participants and obtain written permissions.
You will also prepare files for delivery and communicate clearly about progress, challenges, and questions about changing workflows or project requirements.
Experience capturing video or conducting comparable real-world data collection is preferred. You should be comfortable recording in home and public environments, following detailed instructions, and adapting to changing workflows.
A reliable, high-quality smartphone is required. Familiarity with Insta360 X-series cameras, INSV files, and Insta360 Studio is valuable, while current ownership of an Insta360 X-series camera is helpful.
This opportunity may suit people with video capture experience, practical data collection backgrounds, or a strong interest in contributing to AI development. It is also suitable for entry-level contributors who are organized, dependable, and able to manage recording and file-handling requirements carefully.
Apply if you can commit to 20 or more hours per week and are located in one of the supported countries.
Create or update your free OpenTrain profile, review the opportunity details, and apply through the platform. Your profile can help showcase relevant video, equipment, and data collection experience as you build a longer-term career in AI training.
Be prepared to describe your experience with video capture, Insta360 equipment, INSV files, Insta360 Studio, participant coordination, and following privacy or consent requirements.
