Why AI training matters
AI training (data labeling) is the human work that teaches models how to see, hear, and respond. Contributors label images, audio, and text used to build state-of-the-art systems, and this role puts you directly on the front line of that process.
- 100% remote: work from anywhere with a computer or phone and an internet connection.
- Flexible, part-time-friendly work that fits around other commitments.
- Many projects need no prior experience — ideal for entry-level contributors.
The role
Label volleyballs in still images by drawing bounding boxes around the ball when it is in play during a rally. Balls that are simply lying around or not part of the play should not be labeled. Images may include motion blur; do your best to mark the ball accurately even when it's blurred.
- Task type: Image annotation (bounding box).
- Labeling tool: CVAT (you will perform work inside CVAT).
- This is a one-time, contract assignment with no ongoing commitment.
What you'll do
- Open assigned images in CVAT and locate the volleyball that is part of the rally.
- Draw a tight bounding box around the volleyball; include blurred balls if they are in play.
- Skip images where the ball is not in play or is clearly resting off-play.
- Follow any project-specific labeling guidelines provided in the task instructions.
Requirements
This is an entry-level task and no prior labeling experience is required.
- Attention to detail and the ability to distinguish a ball in motion from stationary balls.
- Comfort using CVAT is helpful but not mandatory — instructions will be provided.
- Available to work up to 20 hours per week on a one-time contract.
- Open worldwide; no specific language or country restrictions listed.
Compensation & schedule
Pay is per label at the rate provided in the project listing.
- Payment type: Pay per label.
- Rate: $0.04 USD per label.
- Time commitment: One-time job, less than 20 hours/week, flexible scheduling.
