About AI training and voice work

AI training is the human side of building intelligent systems — people provide the examples, recordings, and feedback that teach models to understand and generate natural speech. Voice recordings and acting performances are especially important for teaching models nuance, emotion, diction, and character.

This is accessible, remote work that directly influences how state-of-the-art voice-enabled systems speak and perform. Many projects accept part-time contributors; specialist skills (like professional acting or dialects) are highly valued.

The role

OpenTrain is recruiting for a Voice Acting Performance Specialist to provide professional-quality audio used to train voice models. This is a contract, part-time role performed remotely with a requirement of 20+ hours per week.

You will record a wide range of scripted material, take direction, revise performances, and deliver organized, production-ready audio files from your home studio.

What you'll do

  • Deliver high-quality voice performances across commercial, narrative, and character-driven scripts
  • Interpret scripts with emotional depth and adjust vocal tone according to direction
  • Participate in live direction sessions to refine delivery and accept feedback
  • Record professional-grade audio from your personal studio environment and maintain organized files
  • Collaborate with writers, producers, and sound engineers and revise lines as requested

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management and self-motivation to meet remote deadlines
  • Portfolio of previous voice acting work in various projects or settings
  • Attention to detail in pronunciation, pacing, and vocal consistency

Helpful background and desirable skills

  • Background in theater, broadcasting, or media performance
  • Experience in ADR, animation, or interactive media voice work
  • Multilingual abilities or proficiency in multiple dialects (helpful but not required)

Pay is provided per hour in USD. The project lists an hourly range of $20–$50 USD per hour (PAY_PER_HOUR). Exact rate within that range will be set by the client and may depend on experience and deliverables.

You'll supply your own recording setup and use standard voice recording software. The work type is audio data collection: label type AUDIO_RECORDING and labeling software listed as OTHER.
