The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Vim Workflow AI Training Specialist to support AI training focused on Vim and developer tool workflows. You will create challenging, realistic computer-based tasks covering text editing, coding, documentation, system administration, and developer productivity.

This is a remote hourly contractor role for candidates in Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan. Work is self-directed and coordinated across time zones, with a time commitment of 20 or more hours per week. Compensation is up to $20 per hour.

What You'll Do

You will design and execute reproducible Vim workflows that reflect practical computer tasks. Each task must be clearly documented, correctly configured, and understandable to reviewers with varying levels of Vim familiarity. You will validate both the environment and the final result before recording the process for AI training.

• Design challenging Vim tasks for coding, documentation, text editing, system administration, and developer productivity.
• Prepare required files, folders, references, terminal environments, and configuration.
• Use Vim modes, motions, operators, search and replacement, macros, buffers, windows, tabs, registers, plugins, and configuration.
• Execute workflows on your computer and record the process for AI training.
• Validate that the setup supports the task and that the completed workflow is accurate and understandable.
• Document reproducible workflows clearly in English and follow detailed project guidelines.

Requirements

Strong hands-on Vim knowledge is the primary qualification. You should be comfortable with keyboard-driven workflows and with preparing and validating computer environments. English proficiency at B2 level or higher is required.

• Hands-on experience using Vim for text editing, code editing, terminal workflows, configuration, or developer productivity tasks.
• Strong knowledge of Vim fundamentals, including modes, motions, operators, search, substitution, buffers, windows, tabs, registers, macros, and configuration.
• Comfort using computers, terminals, files, folders, configuration files, plugins, and screen recording tools.
• Ability to create realistic tasks and explain keyboard-driven workflows clearly.
• Careful attention to detail when validating setup, results, and documentation.
• Reliable, self-directed execution in a remote contractor setting.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher.
