OpenTrain (opentrain.ai) is the #1 platform for people who want to start and grow careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect contributors with short projects that shape how modern AI systems behave.
This role is hired and managed by OpenTrain AI. Working with us gives you direct experience contributing to how AI understands music and culture.
About AI training and why it matters
AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback work) is the human side of building useful AI. People prepare, review, and rate examples that teach models to understand language, culture, audio, and more.
These projects are a flexible, remote way to work on cutting-edge technology: many need no prior experience beyond language fluency and subject interest, and contributors directly influence future products.
The role — conversational participant and feedback provider
You will take part in three AI-driven audio conversations (each ~20–30 minutes) about your music preferences, favorite artists, and U.S. music culture, then provide feedback on the experience.
This is an entry-level, short-term contracting role: the sessions are conversational and designed to feel natural, not like a formal test.
Data type: Audio (spoken conversation recorded or transcribed for annotation).
Labeling tasks: evaluation/rating of the interaction and short text feedback (EVALUATION_RATING, TEXT_GENERATION).
What you'll do in the sessions
Each session will be guided by an AI interviewer that asks friendly, open questions. You should be ready to talk about your tastes, memories, and how you discover music.
After the conversations you'll answer brief feedback questions about the AI interaction—what felt natural, what was confusing, and suggestions for improvement.
Take three audio conversations, each lasting about 20–30 minutes (total ~60–90 minutes).
Discuss favorite genres, artists, recent albums or concerts, and music-discovery habits.
Share stories (first concert, songs tied to memories) and compare U.S. music trends or eras.
Complete short evaluation questions rating the conversation and providing written feedback.
Who should apply / requirements
We're looking for English-fluent music lovers who are familiar with U.S. music culture and enjoy talking about artists, genres, and recommendations. No specific education or prior annotation experience is required.
You should be comfortable speaking for 20–30 minute stretches, expressing opinions clearly, and offering thoughtful feedback about the AI interaction.
Fluent English (able to speak naturally and clearly for 20–30 minutes).
Familiarity with U.S. music culture and enthusiasm for discussing music.
Comfort with remote audio sessions and providing short written feedback.
Entry-level — prior annotation experience is not required.
Time, pay, and logistics
This is part-time, contract work you can do from anywhere. Expect a one-time commitment of approximately 60–90 minutes total across three conversations. The project requires less than 20 hours/week.
Pay type: hourly. Hourly rate: $6.65 USD per hour. OpenTrain will provide scheduling instructions after you apply.
Employment type: Contractor, Part-time.
Worldwide applicants accepted — work remotely from where you have a device and internet connection.
Sessions are audio-based; you'll speak with an AI interviewer and then complete brief feedback.
