The role

As a U.S. Legal AI Training Expert you will review, evaluate, and annotate AI-generated legal responses across multiple U.S. law topics. Your analyses and written feedback will be used to fine-tune language models and to set performance benchmarks for legal reasoning.

You will work as a contractor on a part-time, remote basis and collaborate with project leads and researchers to align evaluation standards and improve rubric design.

What you'll do

Hands-on evaluation and annotation using structured legal rubrics; provide clear written feedback so researchers can improve model outputs.

• Review AI-generated responses to U.S. legal hypotheticals and score them using the project rubric.
• Assess issue spotting, accuracy, legal reasoning, and application of law across practice areas.
• Identify gaps, edge cases, and systemic blind spots in model reasoning.
• Provide detailed annotations and written feedback to inform model improvements.
• Collaborate with project leads and researchers to align evaluation standards and resolve ambiguities.

Requirements

This role requires demonstrated legal training and practice in U.S. law; strong written communication and ethical standards are essential.

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school.
• Active or inactive bar admission in the United States.
• 3+ years of U.S. legal practice or teaching experience.
• Strong legal reasoning across core areas of U.S. law and excellent attention to detail.
• Clear written communication and high ethical standards; interest in AI is a plus.
