The role

OpenTrain is recruiting for a Telugu Language Data Specialist for a OpenTrain project focused on transcription, caption review, and voice recording. You will handle machine-generated transcripts, verify captions, transcribe spoken audio, and record clear Telugu voice samples to support model training.

What you'll do

This role centers on producing high-quality Telugu language input for AI. Tasks require linguistic accuracy, consistent formatting, and clear audio recordings.

• Review and correct machine-generated Telugu transcriptions for accuracy and clarity.
• Transcribe spoken Telugu audio into written Telugu with correct grammar and context.
• Create and verify captions for Telugu audio and video.
• Record clear, natural Telugu voice samples by reading provided text.
• Collaborate with the project team to maintain linguistic quality and consistency.
• Meet project deadlines while working efficiently in a remote, tech-enabled environment.

Requirements

Candidates must meet the core linguistic and technical requirements below. These are mandatory for quality and usability of the recorded and annotated data.

• Fluency in Telugu with excellent written and verbal communication.
• Experience transcribing and captioning Telugu content.
• Clear pronunciation and expressive delivery suitable for voice recording.
• Ability to self-record using a laptop microphone or better audio equipment.
• Quiet recording environment free of background noise.
• Reliable internet connection and comfort using remote collaboration tools.

Helpful background

The following experience is useful but not required. Candidates with these backgrounds typically ramp up faster and handle edge cases more reliably.

• Previous work on language-model training, voice-over, or language data annotation.
• Background in linguistics, translation, or language teaching.
• Familiarity with basic audio editing or quality assurance workflows.

Compensation & logistics

This contractor role is budgeted at $12 to $22 per hour. Work is part-time and requires at least 20 hours per week. The project is listed by OpenTrain through OpenTrain.
