AI training (data labeling/annotation) is how people teach models to behave: reviewers prepare and evaluate examples such as code, SQL, text, images, and audio so models learn from accurate, high-quality data.
This role focuses on SQL and database content — you will directly influence how models generate queries, reason about schemas, and recommend analytics approaches by enforcing correctness, safety, and rubric-aligned quality.
OpenTrain is hiring a SQL Quality Assurance Lead to review AI-generated SQL, schema reasoning, and data-modeling content and to provide clear written feedback that keeps outputs accurate, executable, and aligned with rubrics.
You will also help maintain QA consistency across trainers and reviewers by owning documentation, style guides, trackers, and onboarding materials, and by surfacing recurring issues for improvement.
You will evaluate SQL and database content against technical and rubric standards, communicate issues clearly to contributors, and support reviewer activation and onboarding.
You must be able to assess SQL for syntax, logic, performance, and security issues, and to apply rubric-based evaluations while writing clear, actionable feedback.
Experience leading remote teams or supporting documentation-heavy QA workflows will help you hit the ground running. Familiarity with AI training or rubric-based technical review is a plus but not required beyond the stated skills.
This is a remote contractor role for candidates located in the United States. The role expects 20+ hours per week and is classified as part-time contract work.
Hourly pay is up to $70/hour (PAY_PER_HOUR, USD). OpenTrain is the hiring and contracting organization for this position.
If this role matches your background, create or sign in to your OpenTrain account, build your profile, and apply. OpenTrain connects skilled contributors with AI training projects and supports onboarding, documentation, and payment for contractors.
Selections are based on demonstrated SQL expertise, communication skills, and experience with QA or technical review workflows. Expect documentation review tasks, rubric evaluations, and occasional onboarding calls as part of the engagement.
