About OpenTrain
OpenTrain is the leading platform for people who build careers in AI training and data labeling. We help freelancers find specialized AI training projects, consolidate opportunities, and build a lasting portfolio of work that demonstrates their skills and experience.
Why AI training matters — and why contributors join
AI models learn from examples prepared and reviewed by people. Speech training—recording, transcribing, and evaluating audio—directly shapes how voice interfaces, assistants, and transcription systems understand real speakers.
This work is usually 100% remote, flexible, and accessible: it fits around other commitments and lets contributors impact the cutting edge of AI without requiring traditional software engineering roles.
The role — Spanish speech data collection & evaluation
OpenTrain is recruiting native Spanish speakers (authentic Spain accent) to record and review speech data used to train and evaluate speech recognition and pronunciation models.
You will both produce high-quality audio recordings and evaluate AI-generated transcriptions and pronunciation outputs, providing detailed, constructive linguistic feedback to improve phonetic accuracy and naturalness.
What you will do
- Record Spanish audio samples with a native Spain accent following provided scripts and quality guidelines.
- Review audio contributions for technical quality (clarity, background noise, recording level).
- Evaluate AI-generated transcriptions and pronunciations for accuracy and naturalness.
- Provide feedback on language usage, pronunciation nuances, and phonetic observations.
- Support speech data collection workflow design and execution when requested.
- Document linguistic observations that help refine model training and annotation guidelines.
Requirements
You must meet the following core requirements for this project.
- Native proficiency in Spanish with an authentic Spain accent.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and comfortable collaborating with remote teams.
- Familiarity with speech data collection and audio recording workflows.
- Solid understanding of phonetics and Spanish pronunciation patterns.
- Comfort with technology-driven tasks and standard AI training methods.
Helpful (but not required) background
- Experience in sound engineering, voice acting, podcasting, or audio production.
- Prior work on AI or speech technology projects.
- Formal study in linguistics, phonetics, or language studies.
