Why AI training matters

Human-created examples and careful annotations are how modern AI systems learn. Audio transcription and metadata labeling directly shape how speech-enabled models understand language and cultural nuance.

This type of work is often 100% remote, flexible, and accessible: many projects need strong language skills and attention to detail rather than prior AI experience.

The role

OpenTrain is recruiting contractors for a Spanish audio transcription and annotation project with a Spanish (Mexico) focus. This is a part-time, remote contractor engagement with a typical commitment of 20+ hours per week.

You will review and correct machine-generated transcriptions, add detailed metadata and tags, and collaborate with the project team to improve overall dataset quality. The client for this project is OpenTrain.

What you'll do

  • Review, correct, and refine machine-generated Spanish (Mexico) transcriptions for accuracy and context.
  • Annotate audio recordings with detailed metadata and relevant tags to support model training.
  • Identify transcription errors, inconsistencies, and cultural nuances that affect data quality.
  • Deliver precise annotations and clearly document issues or ambiguous cases.
  • Collaborate with the project team and provide actionable feedback to improve outputs.
  • Work across multiple transcription and annotation tasks while maintaining high attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Fluent Spanish (Mexico) speaker with excellent grammar and language command.
  • Experience in transcription, annotation, or metadata tagging (entry-level applicants welcome if you have hands-on experience).
  • Strong accuracy in audio listening and text analysis; ability to correct transcription errors promptly.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and comfort collaborating remotely.
  • Good time management and adaptability in a remote workflow.

Helpful background and preferred experience

You do not need prior AI experience, but the following backgrounds are helpful and may make you more competitive for this project.

  • Professional transcription or audio engineering experience.
  • Experience working on multicultural or distributed teams.
  • Familiarity with language data projects or previous AI training initiatives.
