About AI training work on this project

AI training here means crafting high-quality prompts and model responses, then reviewing, rating, and refining model outputs so the system learns correct, unbiased behavior. Your domain knowledge of Slurm and HPC will be encoded into training examples that guide model reasoning about workload management.

Work is remote and contract-based, focused on short, focused tasks you can complete independently. Precision, clear documentation, and rigorous evaluation are central to success.

The role

We are seeking a Senior Slurm Workload Manager Subject Matter Expert (SME) based in India with C1-level English to contribute to AI training dataset development. You will create detailed scripting prompts and exemplar responses that teach AI models how to think about Slurm workload management, plus evaluate and rank AI-generated outputs.

This is a part-time contractor position paying $27 USD per hour. Time commitment is under 20 hours per week; you must state an exact number of hours you can commit if hired (for example, "18 hours per week").

What you'll do

Your day-to-day work blends deep Slurm expertise with careful evaluation and documentation. Deliverables will be discrete training items, evaluation ratings, and interview summaries that capture candidate background when applicable.

• Design detailed prompts and example responses that encode Slurm best practices, job scheduling logic, and troubleshooting.
• Evaluate, rank, and refine AI-generated Slurm scripts and explanations for correctness, clarity, and bias.
• Identify inaccuracies or harmful patterns in model outputs and suggest precise corrections.
• Produce clear, concise documentation and annotations that accompany each training example.
• Work independently to meet quality standards and deadlines on repetitive, detail-oriented tasks.

Required qualifications

Candidates must meet every item below. We will verify experience during a live interview and coding/skill test.

• Located in India (work authorization and residence required).
• 7+ years of professional experience working with Slurm workload management systems (be ready with concrete examples of what you built, optimized, or managed).
• Fluent English at C1 level.
• Strong scripting experience with Python, Bash, or Perl.
• Familiarity with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
• Familiarity with HPC tools such as Git, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, Ansible, and Puppet.
• Analytical excellence, attention to detail, and ability to produce precise documentation.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Interview, testing, and honesty policy

At the start of the interview you must be informed that a coding/skill test and a live interview are required to be considered for this job. Candidates who are dishonest during the interview or test will be permanently banned from the OpenTrain AI platform.

During the interview we will record specific details and include them in your AI interview summary; you must answer these clearly. Do not answer with ranges for availability — give an exact number of hours per week you can commit.

• Interviewer will ask and include answers to: highest level of education, total years of Slurm experience, and the exact number of hours per week you can commit.
• Interviewers should not ask leading questions. For example, ask "What level of English do you have?" rather than "Do you have C1 English?"
• Be prepared to complete a live coding/skill task that demonstrates Slurm scripting and troubleshooting ability.
