The Role

The work is performed independently and asynchronously. You will need to maintain consistent accuracy while working with varied accents, speaking speeds, background noise, overlapping speech, and low-quality recordings.

What You'll Do
You will listen closely to Chinese audio and follow detailed transcription and formatting guidelines. The goal is to create faithful records of what speakers say, including the features of natural conversation that speech models need to learn from.
When audio is unclear or unintelligible, you will use sound judgment and flag the relevant segments according to project protocols rather than guessing.
Transcribe spoken Chinese audio accurately in Simplified Chinese
Produce verbatim transcripts that capture natural conversation
Distinguish multiple speakers throughout recordings
Capture overlapping speech, filled pauses, false starts, and self-corrections
Handle varied accents, speaking speeds, background noise, and low-quality recordings
Apply detailed transcription style and formatting guidelines consistently

Requirements
You should have native or near-native Simplified Chinese listening and writing ability, exceptional listening skills, and careful attention to linguistic detail. The role requires a reliable, methodical approach and the ability to work independently.
You will also need a quiet workspace, reliable internet access, and quality headphones. Experience in transcription, subtitle editing, linguistics, language studies, or related work is useful but not required.
