The Role
OpenTrain AI is recruiting a Simplified Chinese Audio Transcriptionist to transcribe real spoken conversations for AI speech and language training. You will create accurate, verbatim transcripts in Simplified Chinese while preserving how people actually speak.
This is a fully remote, flexible, freelance hourly contract. Work is performed independently and asynchronously, with an advertised schedule of 10 to 40 hours per week. The listing also indicates a time requirement of 20 or more hours per week.

What You'll Do
You will listen closely to spoken Chinese recordings and apply detailed transcription guidelines consistently. The work requires careful judgment when audio is difficult and dependable accuracy across large volumes of content.
Create accurate, verbatim transcripts in Simplified Chinese
Identify and distinguish multiple speakers in the same recording
Capture crosstalk, overlapping speech, filled pauses, false starts, and self-corrections
Transcribe recordings with background noise, low-quality audio, regional accents, and varying speaking speeds
Apply required transcription formatting conventions and style guides
Flag unclear or unintelligible segments according to established protocols
Maintain accuracy and consistency across large volumes of audio
Required Skills and Setup
Native or near-native Simplified Chinese listening and writing ability is required. You should be comfortable working patiently, methodically, independently, and reliably while handling complex audio and following precise instructions.
Native or near-native Simplified Chinese fluency in listening and writing
Strong listening ability and sensitivity to linguistic nuance
Accurate identification of speakers, crosstalk, and overlapping speech
Ability to preserve filled pauses, false starts, and self-corrections
Consistent use of detailed formatting and style guidelines
