The Shopify Specialist Role
OpenTrain AI is seeking an expert Shopify Specialist for a remote, part-time contractor engagement. You will contribute subject-matter expertise to a customer project focused on Shopify e-commerce workflows and analytics.
The expected commitment is approximately 5 to 10 hours per week and under 20 hours per week overall. The project is expected to run for 1 to 3 months, with compensation of $60 to $100 per hour.

What You'll Do
You will review and improve Shopify and e-commerce analytical work so that it reflects authentic platform workflows, data models, terminology, and operator or analyst perspectives. Your feedback may be provided in written and verbal form.
- Review proposed Shopify and e-commerce task structures for alignment with real platform workflows and data models.
- Assess the realism and completeness of analytical scenarios and deliverables.
- Advise on Shopify data objects, including orders, products, customers, and reporting.
- Identify gaps, edge cases, and unrealistic assumptions in scenario framing.
- Recommend improvements to task structures, terminology, and metrics.
- Validate definitions and terminology against standard Shopify and e-commerce analytics language.
- Suggest additional cases and refinements based on operator and analyst perspectives.
- Provide clear, actionable written and verbal feedback.
Requirements and Preferred Qualifications
This opportunity is designed for an expert with substantial hands-on Shopify experience and strong knowledge of e-commerce analytics. No prior experience in AI is required, but candidates should be comfortable with text labeling workflows, evaluation rating, and text generation tasks.
- 5+ years of deep, hands-on experience in the Shopify ecosystem across store operations, development, or analytics.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Shopify's data model, including orders, products, customers, and reporting.
- Strong foundation in conversion, retention, cohort, and revenue measurements.
- Ability to communicate feedback clearly and effectively in writing and conversation.
- Direct experience advising on best practices for Shopify-related analytical work.
- Experience with multiple Shopify stores or as a consultant or agency professional is a plus.
- Familiarity with Shopify Plus, advanced reporting, SQL, or BI platforms such as Looker is a plus.
- Experience with text labeling, evaluation rating, and text generation workflows.
- Native or bilingual English proficiency and comfort working in English.
