About AI Training Work
AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Contributors review model outputs, compare responses, write examples, and provide detailed feedback so AI systems can produce more accurate, clear, safe, and useful results.
For this project, your Rust expertise will help evaluate coding responses and technical explanations. Your judgments can improve how AI handles systems programming, correctness, memory safety, concurrency, and detailed problem solving.
Work remotely with a flexible part-time structure
Apply professional technical judgment to cutting-edge AI development
Build experience in code evaluation, response ranking, and expert feedback
The Role
OpenTrain is seeking an intermediate Rust AI Data Training Reviewer to assess AI-generated Rust code and explanations. You will write model solutions when needed, evaluate reasoning and prompt adherence, and provide precise feedback that helps improve AI-generated technical content.
The role requires strong knowledge of Rust ownership, borrowing, lifetimes, memory safety, concurrency, and algorithmic reasoning. You will also assess whether code is safe, idiomatic, correct, and clearly explained.
Role type: Contractor and part-time
Experience level: Intermediate
Subject matter: Rust code review
Data work includes question answering, evaluation and rating, RLHF, and text generation
What You'll Do
You will review multiple AI responses and determine which best meets technical and communication standards. Your feedback should distinguish subtle implementation issues from sound Rust practices and explain conclusions in polished, structured English.
Review AI-generated Rust code and explanations for correctness and idiomatic style
Write high-quality Rust solutions and technical explanations when needed
Evaluate reasoning quality, step-by-step problem solving, safety, and prompt adherence
Identify ownership, borrowing, lifetime, concurrency, and algorithmic logic issues
Rate and compare multiple model responses for accuracy and clarity
Fact-check technical content and provide detailed expert feedback
Help improve AI-generated technical content through careful evaluation
Required Qualifications
Applicants should have professional Rust development experience and the ability to explain technical decisions clearly. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related technical field is required, along with excellent English writing skills.
1 to 2 or more years of professional Rust development experience
Experience with backend services, command-line tools, or systems programming in Rust
Strong understanding of ownership, borrowing, lifetimes, and memory safety
Ability to evaluate safe, idiomatic Rust using traits, generics, pattern matching, and error handling
Excellent English writing skills with precise, structured technical explanations
Experience reviewing AI-generated or production Rust code for correctness
Strong Rust ownership, borrowing, and lifetime reasoning
Preferred Background
The following experience is especially valuable for evaluating advanced Rust responses and validating coding-assistant output. These qualifications are preferred rather than a substitute for the core requirements.
Experience with AI data training, LLMs, or coding assistants
Familiarity with Tokio, Actix, Serde, and asynchronous Rust patterns
Disciplined validation of coding-assistant or LLM output
Competitive programming experience
Contributions to Rust open-source projects
Demonstrated attention to performance, concurrency, and correctness
