Role overview

OpenTrain is recruiting a Romanized Hindi Transcription Specialist to transcribe and annotate Romanized Hindi audio and review machine-generated transcriptions. This entry-level, contract role is suited to detail-oriented speakers of Romanized Hindi who can work independently and meet deadlines.

You will perform transcription, correction, metadata tagging, and quality checks that help train speech and language models.

• Project type: audio transcription and annotation (Romanized Hindi).
• Labeling tasks include: TRANSCRIPTION, EVALUATION_RATING, and ENTITY_NER_CLASSIFICATION.
• Annotation software: other/unspecified; you will receive project-specific tooling instructions.

What you'll do

• Accurately transcribe Romanized Hindi audio and text into written Romanized Hindi.
• Review and correct automated or machine-generated Romanized Hindi transcriptions for accuracy and fluency.
• Add metadata tags and context-rich annotations to audio and text files per project guidelines.
• Ensure consistency, linguistic integrity, and high quality across assignments.
• Collaborate with project managers to align on guidelines and best practices.
• Manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and communicate progress clearly.

Requirements

• Fluent proficiency in Romanized Hindi (reading, writing, and listening).
• Proven transcription experience and a strong eye for detail and quality.
• Experience adding metadata tags and performing annotation tasks.
• Ability to review and correct errors in machine-generated transcriptions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and professional collaboration skills.
• Able to work independently in a remote setting while maintaining productivity and organization.

Helpful background and who should apply

You don’t need a specialized degree: ideal contributors have transcription, annotation, or audio work experience and comfort working with linguistically diverse material.

Prior work as an audio engineer, data annotator, or professional transcriber and experience on large-scale projects or multicultural teams is a plus.

This contract, part-time project pays per task with an effective hourly rate typically ranging from $8 to $16 USD. The role expects 20+ hours per week and is fully remote — work from anywhere.
