The role
OpenTrain is hiring Romanian bilingual contributors for video transcription and language review tasks. You will transcribe Romanian-language video audio with precise timestamps, evaluate speaker emotionality and tone, review grammar and syntax, and explain nuanced words to support localization and language optimization projects.
This is a part-time contractor role, remote and worldwide. The project expects a steady weekly commitment (you must be able to commit at least 15 hours/week; project listings indicate 20+ hours/week availability). Rate range: USD $45–$95 per hour (hourly-pay contract). Label types: TRANSCRIPTION and AUDIO_RECORDING. Labeling software details will be provided after onboarding.

What you'll do
- Transcribe Romanian-language videos with exceptional accuracy and attach precise timestamps.
- Assess and describe speaker emotionality, noting subtle shifts in tone, intent, and affect.
- Review and evaluate grammar, syntax, register, and tone; provide detailed notes for corrections.
- Define and explain challenging or context-dependent words, clarifying conceptual and situational meanings.
- Contribute to localization and language-optimization tasks, keeping style and terminology consistent.
- Collaborate with teammates to ensure consistent deliverables and meet quality standards.
- Handle sensitive or proprietary content with professionalism and confidentiality.
Requirements
- Fluent Romanian and English, written and verbal (required).
- Experience in transcription, translation, or language analysis at a professional or academic level.
- Strong attention to detail and comfort with nuanced linguistic and emotional interpretation.
- Excellent analytical skills in grammar, tone, and semantic interpretation.
- Ability to commit at least 15 hours per week; project may require 20+ hrs/week availability.
- Proficiency with common digital collaboration tools such as Google Suite and video platforms.
Helpful background
Candidates with degrees or advanced study in Linguistics, Translation, Communication, or related fields are especially competitive. Prior experience doing video transcription, language annotation, localization, or emotion analysis in multimedia work is a plus but not strictly required.
