The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting a Regulatory Compliance AI Training Expert to build evaluation tasks for AI systems working in regulatory compliance and government affairs. The role includes two tracks: a US track covering the Administrative Procedure Act and agency-specific statutes involving the SEC, FDA, and FTC, and an International track covering EU regulatory frameworks and UK regulatory bodies.

Experts qualified in either or both tracks are encouraged to apply. The project is remote and global, requires English fluency, and is offered as an ongoing contractor opportunity.

• Pay: $90–$100 per hour

What You'll Do

You will design realistic regulatory scenarios and supporting evaluation materials across a wide range of compliance and government affairs workflows. The work requires applying practical regulatory methodologies rather than relying on generic law school or bar exam-level knowledge.

• Construct scenarios involving compliance program design, agency investigations, enforcement actions, and rulemaking processes
• Build tasks across financial services regulation, healthcare and FDA regulation, antitrust and competition law, data privacy and cybersecurity regulation, and environmental and energy regulation
• Develop scenarios involving regulatory tracking platforms, compliance management systems, and agency filing systems
• Produce reference compliance memoranda, regulatory filings, and enforcement response documents
• Author rubrics that distinguish authentic regulatory judgment from generic legal recall
• Create text-generation and evaluation-rating tasks for AI systems

Requirements

This is an expert-level opportunity despite the project metadata identifying the experience level as entry level. Applicants should be able to demonstrate substantial hands-on regulatory practice and ownership of real compliance or agency matters.

• 5+ years as a regulatory attorney or compliance counsel at a major law firm, regulated company, or government agency
• Direct ownership of regulatory compliance programs, agency interactions, or enforcement matters
• Fluency in regulatory tracking platforms, compliance management systems, and agency filing systems
• Deep understanding of administrative process and how agency rulemaking works in practice
• JD with bar admission or an international equivalent strongly preferred
• Experience authoring rubrics, training materials, or compliance documentation is a plus
• Background in US or international regulatory frameworks is helpful
