OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help freelancers consolidate proof of work, track opportunities, and grow a durable portfolio of AI-training experience.
As a hiring and contracting organization, OpenTrain runs training projects that teach models through human review and feedback—this role will be directly involved in making that work high quality and reproducible for R-based tasks.
AI training (data labeling and human feedback) is the human side of building modern models: people prepare, evaluate, and correct examples that teach systems how to code, reason about data, and explain statistics.
This work is highly flexible and remote-friendly, often accessible without prior platform experience, and lets contributors influence how state-of-the-art AI behaves—especially when you bring domain expertise like R programming and statistical reasoning.
You will be the R subject-matter quality lead for projects that generate, evaluate, and refine R code, data-wrangling steps, visualizations, and modeling workflows used to train AI. Your judgments and feedback will ensure accuracy, reproducibility, and adherence to project rubrics.
This is a contract, part-time role for residents of the United States, expected to cover about 20+ hours per week at up to $65/hour.
Perform careful, rubric-driven reviews of R code and analysis outputs, and provide clear, actionable written feedback to contributors and trainers.
You must have hands-on experience using R for data analysis and the ability to translate technical issues into concise reviewer feedback.
The following qualifications are not required but will help you succeed in the role and influence project standards and onboarding materials.
This is a contractor, part-time role. You will work remotely from within the United States and are expected to contribute 20+ hours per week.
Pay is up to $65 per hour (PAY_PER_HOUR). Exact scheduling is flexible and coordinated with project leads.
OpenTrain projects combine human review and evaluation to create high-quality training data for AI. As an R QA Lead, you'll review contributor submissions, help refine rubrics, and improve onboarding so contributors can produce consistent, reproducible R analyses.
If this matches your skills, apply through your OpenTrain account with a brief summary of your R experience and examples of past work or teaching/reviewing experience. We use practical review tasks during onboarding to confirm fit and calibration.
