About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for building careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect skilled contributors with projects that shape how modern AI systems behave, offering flexible remote work and clear pathways to grow in the industry.

About AI Training Work

AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback work) is the human side of building AI: people create, review, and refine the examples models learn from. Contributors work on tasks like writing and debugging code, rating model outputs, and preparing datasets that make AI systems more accurate and useful.

  • Work remotely from anywhere with a computer and internet connection.
  • Great for part-time, flexible schedules that fit around other commitments.
  • No prior LLM training experience required for many projects, but domain expertise is useful.

The Role

You will be an AI Data Trainer focused on Python, responding to prompts by writing and debugging Python code for small to medium-sized tasks. Your examples and corrections will be used to teach models to generate accurate, context-aware solutions across varied categories.

  • Position type: Contractor, Part-time.
  • Time commitment: 20–40 hours per week for an ongoing 3–6 month project.
  • Pay: $8 USD per hour.

What You'll Do

Daily work centers on producing high-quality Python code and explanatory responses to training prompts. You will follow prompt instructions, implement solutions, troubleshoot bugs, and provide clear, well-documented examples that a model can learn from.

  • Respond to structured prompts by writing functional Python code for small/medium tasks.
  • Debug and refine code samples, and provide concise explanations or test cases where requested.
  • Maintain accuracy, readability, and consistency across examples to improve model behavior.

Requirements

We require demonstrable Python expertise and real-world software experience. Read the list carefully — these details come from the project scope and are required for consideration.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 2 years of professional software industry experience with a strong focus on Python.
  • Excellent command of English (written) to produce clear prompts, code comments, and explanations.
  • Previous experience as an LLM Trainer is preferred but not required.
  • Multilingual candidates will receive additional consideration.

Who Should Apply & Schedule

This role is a strong fit for intermediate Python developers who enjoy teaching through examples and have experience producing clean, testable code. Apply if you can commit 20–40 hours weekly and want to contribute to how AI systems learn to code.

  • Availability: 20–40 hours per week for the next 3–6 months.
  • Open to contributors worldwide; work is remote and contract-based.

How It Works

If selected, you will receive training prompts and labeling guidelines. Work is task-based within the project flow: you complete prompt responses, follow quality rules, and submit examples through OpenTrain's platform. Feedback and review cycles help maintain quality and consistency.

  • Compensation is hourly at $8 USD/hour as stated in the project details.
  • You will be managed as a contractor and expected to meet the weekly hours you commit to.
