About AI Training Work

AI training is the human side of building modern artificial intelligence. Professionals review examples, evaluate model outputs, and provide structured feedback so AI systems can produce more accurate, useful, and reliable results.

This role applies that process to realistic public-sector work. Your professional judgment will help assess whether AI-generated work reflects the standards, constraints, and quality expectations a practitioner would recognize.

  • Work remotely with a flexible part-time schedule
  • Help improve how AI handles professional and domain-specific tasks
  • Use your existing expertise without completing the original task yourself

The Role

OpenTrain is seeking public-sector professionals to review complete AI-generated work products in their own field. You will determine whether the task is authentic, borderline, or contrived, then assess the accuracy and usability of the resulting work.

The role focuses on expert evaluation rather than redoing the original assignment. You will review both the finished files and an eleven-question grading scorecard, identify disagreements, and assign your own defensible quality band.

  • Remote contract work for candidates located in the United States
  • Default commitment of about 10 hours per week
  • Pay of $50 to $55 per hour
  • Part-time contractor engagement
  • Experience level listed as entry level

What You'll Do

You will examine an AI agent's complete attempt at a realistic task from your professional domain. Your review should explain whether the work could be accepted or used by a practitioner and whether the reported score accurately reflects its quality.

  • Assess whether public-sector tasks are authentic, borderline, or contrived
  • Check regulations, standards, figures, terminology, requirements, and other domain details
  • Evaluate whether content follows applicable public-sector constraints
  • Review finished files and an eleven-question grading scorecard
  • Identify disagreements between your assessment and the grader's judgments
  • Assign a quality band and compare it with the reported score
  • Write a concise reason for each judgment
  • Reconcile figures across spreadsheets or PDFs

Required Experience and Skills

Applicants should have current or recent public-sector experience in at least one of the relevant professional areas. Your background should include accountable work where accuracy, documentation, standards, and professional judgment mattered.

  • Compliance, administrative services, social work, recreation, or police and detective supervision experience
  • Experience writing findings, case plans, incident reviews, corrective actions, or other accountable professional work
  • Compliance experience involving regulations, licensing, or program requirements
  • Administrative services experience managing facilities, records, procurement, or general services for a public agency or institution
  • Social work experience with any license required in your state and responsibility for your own caseload
  • Recreation experience running programs for a parks department, community center, camp, or school district, including staffing and safety plans
  • Police or detective supervision experience as a sworn supervisor at sergeant rank or above
  • Near-native business English
  • Comfort checking spreadsheets and PDFs

Who Should Apply

This opportunity may suit professionals who want to apply their public-sector judgment to emerging AI systems. It is especially relevant for candidates who can spot inaccurate standards, unsupported conclusions, inconsistent figures, and work products that would not meet real professional expectations.

  • Public-sector professionals with current or recent relevant experience
  • Candidates who can explain the reasoning behind quality judgments
  • Professionals comfortable reviewing documents, scorecards, spreadsheets, and PDFs
  • Applicants who can work in near-native business English

Schedule, Location, and Pay
