The Procurement AI Training Expert Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a Procurement AI Training Expert to create high-quality, real-world procurement tasks, artifacts, and grading rubrics for next-generation AI systems. You will translate sophisticated procurement decision-making into clear scenarios and evaluation standards.

The work focuses on IT, industrial, and professional-services procurement, including situations involving non-standardized vendor submissions and complex sourcing decisions. The role is classified as entry level in the project information, while the required background calls for at least four years of direct procurement experience.

What You’ll Do

You will design procurement-focused training data that reflects the detail and ambiguity of real sourcing work. Your deliverables will help evaluate whether AI agents can compare vendors, reason through contract terms, and support defensible procurement recommendations.

  • Design expert-level tasks involving RFP drafting, bid evaluation, supplier scoring, and contract negotiation scenarios.
  • Source, create, and format realistic supplier quotations, specification sheets, pricing tables, and technical documentation.
  • Prepare procurement artifacts in multiple and inconsistent formats.
  • Define sourcing recommendations with clear, defensible, and well-reasoned justifications.
  • Develop comprehensive grading rubrics for vendor comparison, contract reasoning, and bid analysis.
  • Ensure scenarios reflect granular challenges in IT, industrial, or professional-services procurement.
  • Communicate task context and evaluation standards clearly in writing and verbally.
  • Collaborate with the project team to review, refine, and validate tasks and rubrics.

Required Qualifications

This role requires substantial hands-on procurement experience and the ability to turn complex sourcing judgment into precise documentation and evaluation criteria.

  • At least four years of corporate or public-sector procurement experience.
  • Direct responsibility for supplier analysis, bid matrices, and contract negotiation.
  • Expertise analyzing non-standardized vendor submissions and producing detailed comparison matrices.
  • Deep category knowledge in IT, industrial, or professional-services procurement.
  • Strong foundation in procurement best practices, regulatory frameworks, and supplier evaluation methodologies.
  • Exceptional written English for technical procurement documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and commitment to high-quality deliverables.

Helpful Background

Experience creating or assessing complex procurement scenarios or benchmarks is a plus. This background can help you identify realistic decision points and create meaningful standards for evaluating AI performance.
