About AI training work

AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback) is the human side of building intelligent systems: people annotate, evaluate, and refine examples that models learn from. These roles are typically remote, flexible, and accessible — contributors directly shape how state-of-the-art AI systems behave.

The role

We are hiring Portuguese QA Annotators to review and score Portuguese language data and AI outputs for quality, correctness, and alignment with project guidelines. This is project-based contract work (part-time) with flexible hours under 20 hours per week and an hourly rate of $15 USD.

Work is remote but applicants must currently reside in Portugal. Tasks use web-based annotation and review tools to evaluate text-generation outputs and provide structured feedback.

  • Work type: Contractor, part-time, project-based
  • Time expectation: Less than 20 hours/week, flexible scheduling
  • Pay: $15 USD per hour
  • Data type: Text (evaluation and text generation label types)

What you'll do

Day-to-day responsibilities focus on auditing model outputs and previously completed labels to ensure accuracy and guideline compliance.

  • Audit and score Portuguese AI outputs for quality and correctness using prescribed rubrics
  • Correct labeling errors and reclassify or relabel text where needed
  • Classify text, tag entities and sentiment, and apply consistent annotation rules
  • Write concise, structured reviewer notes explaining decisions and recommended fixes
  • Suggest improvements to guidelines and workflows when patterns of error appear
  • Occasionally review content that may be sensitive or safety-related, following safety guidelines

Requirements

Candidates must meet the language, location, experience, and technical requirements below.

  • Current residence in Portugal (required)
  • Native or C1 proficiency in European Portuguese (required)
  • English at B2 level or higher (required)
  • At least 1 year of experience in data annotation, labeling, model evaluation, or QA
  • Ability to follow detailed written guidelines and apply consistent rubrics
  • Clear, constructive written feedback skills in Portuguese
  • Comfortable reviewing potentially sensitive or safety-related content
  • Reliable computer and stable internet for web-based tools
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred (but not strictly required)

Who should apply

This role suits someone with strong attention to detail, experience in annotation or QA, and excellent written communication in Portuguese. If you enjoy methodical work, making nuanced judgments, and helping improve annotation processes, you’re a great fit.

  • Ideal for contributors seeking flexible, part-time remote work within Portugal
  • Good fit for bilingual communicators who can read and write professionally in Portuguese and English
  • Suited to applicants comfortable with guideline-driven tasks and giving clear reviewer feedback
