The role

OpenTrain is recruiting for a Portuguese Language and Transcription Expert to produce and validate European Portuguese speech data for AI model training. This contractor, part-time role combines correcting machine-generated transcripts, aligning captions to audio, recording spoken samples, and providing linguistic feedback on pronunciation and local variation.

Work is remote and requires a quiet recording environment. A standard laptop microphone is acceptable.

What you'll do

• Review and correct machine-generated Portuguese transcriptions for accuracy, fluency, and natural phrasing.
• Record yourself reading corrected transcriptions using a standard laptop microphone in a quiet environment.
• Ensure precise captioning and alignment between text and audio content.
• Provide feedback on linguistic nuances, pronunciation, and local language variations (European Portuguese).
• Collaborate remotely with the project team to deliver consistent, high-quality language data for AI training.

Requirements

You must meet all listed requirements; these are essential for the role and will be validated during onboarding.

• Fluent-level proficiency in European Portuguese (pt).
• Strong voice acting or clear verbal communication abilities.
• Careful attention to detail when reviewing transcripts and language data.
• Experience correcting, transcribing, or captioning Portuguese text and audio.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage part-time contractor tasks.
• Access to a quiet recording environment suitable for clear audio capture; standard laptop microphone is acceptable.

Helpful background (nice to have)

• Experience in audio engineering, voice artistry, or voice acting.
• Call center or voice training experience.
• Prior exposure to language data annotation, linguistic QA, or related AI training work.

Work terms, hours, and pay

This is a contractor, part-time position. The project requests approximately 20+ hours per week, with flexible scheduling.

Compensation is paid hourly in USD. Hourly rates range from $15–$29/hr, with project pay up to $29/hr depending on the task and experience.
