About AI Training Work
AI training is the human side of building modern AI systems. Contributors review model outputs, compare alternative answers, write high-quality examples, and provide feedback that helps models produce more accurate and reliable results.
This role focuses on physics reasoning and response evaluation. It is remote work that can connect your subject-matter expertise with cutting-edge generative AI development.
The Role
OpenTrain AI is seeking a Physics AI Training Expert to review AI-generated physics responses, evaluate the quality of their reasoning, check factual accuracy, and create clear explanations and model solutions. You will distinguish mathematically valid reasoning from physically correct reasoning and identify subtle problems in model outputs.
This is an expert-level, part-time contractor role requiring 20 or more hours per week. The pay rate is $70 per hour.
- Role type: Part-time contractor
- Experience level: Expert
- Time requirement: 20+ hours per week
- Pay: $70 per hour
- Work language: English
- Data type: Text
What You'll Do
You will support physics, reasoning, and research-oriented AI training tasks by applying rigorous subject knowledge and communicating your conclusions clearly.
- Review AI-generated physics answers for accuracy, logic, and clarity.
- Identify calculation errors, methodological problems, and conceptual misunderstandings.
- Fact-check physics information and assess whether solutions follow sound physical principles.
- Write strong physics explanations and detailed model solutions.
- Compare and rank multiple AI responses by correctness and reasoning quality.
- Help train AI models across physics, reasoning, and research-oriented tasks.
Required Qualifications
This role requires advanced academic and practical knowledge of physics, along with the ability to explain complex ideas precisely in written English. You should be comfortable critically reviewing advanced physics content and detecting errors that may not be obvious to a general reviewer.
- MS or PhD in Physics or a related field.
- Expert-level physics reasoning across mechanics, electromagnetism, optics, thermodynamics, and statistical mechanics.
- Strong command of physics modeling and the ability to evaluate mathematical and physical reasoning.
- Experience developing or critically reviewing advanced physics content.
- Ability to detect calculation, methodology, and conceptual errors in AI-generated solutions.
- Excellent English writing skills for clear explanations and model solutions.
- Prior data labeling, RLHF, or AI model evaluation experience is a bonus.
Who Should Apply
This opportunity is designed for physicists who enjoy analytical writing, research-oriented evaluation, and careful problem solving. It is especially well suited to contributors who can explain physics clearly while maintaining high standards for correctness.
- Physicists with graduate-level training or equivalent advanced expertise.
- Experts who can evaluate both the calculations and the underlying physical concepts in a solution.
- Strong technical writers who can turn rigorous analysis into accessible explanations.
- Candidates interested in applying physics expertise to generative AI training and evaluation.
Location and Application
