The Role

OpenTrain is seeking an intermediate PHP Quality Assurance Lead to review AI-generated PHP code and trainer QA work for correctness, security, readability, maintainability, and adherence to project rubrics.

You will provide precise written feedback, help maintain PHP documentation and style guidance, and support onboarding and calibration for trainers and QAs working on PHP-focused AI training projects.

What You’ll Do

You will combine hands-on PHP expertise with structured quality evaluation. Your reviews should clearly explain what is correct, what needs improvement, and how the work aligns with the applicable rubric.

• Review AI-generated PHP code, backend snippets, debugging responses, API examples, database logic, and tests.
• Evaluate correctness, runtime behavior, performance, security, test coverage, and instruction-following against project guidelines.
• Provide written feedback and answer questions about PHP syntax, frameworks, testing, and rubric interpretation.
• Maintain PHP documentation, style guides, examples, trackers, FAQs, honeypots, and onboarding materials.
• Support onboarding and training for PHP trainers and QAs.
• Identify recurring quality gaps and help improve related workflows.

Required Qualifications

You should have strong PHP 8+ expertise and the ability to evaluate both implementation details and the quality of technical explanations. Experience in code review, QA, mentoring, or a similar technical workflow is required.

• Strong PHP 8+ knowledge, including OOP, namespaces, Composer, autoloading, exceptions, type declarations, sessions, HTTP, REST APIs, and database access.
• Ability to identify insecure SQL handling, weak validation, flawed logic, outdated syntax, hallucinated APIs, and incomplete explanations.
• Experience with code review, quality assurance, mentoring, or similar technical workflows.
• Strong English communication skills and comfort giving clear technical feedback.
