The role

OpenTrain AI is hiring a PDF Document Annotation Specialist to support structured information extraction from PDFs. You will draw tight bounding boxes, classify document elements, preserve reading order, and handle complex layouts consistently following detailed guidelines.

This is a part-time contractor position requiring 20+ hours per week; applicants must be located in Bangladesh and fluent in English for guideline comprehension and annotation labels.

What you'll do day-to-day

You will annotate PDF pages to produce high-quality training data for document understanding models. Tasks combine visual layout work with classification and logical ordering of elements.

• Draw precise bounding boxes around text blocks, tables, figures, captions, headers, and key-value fields.
• Classify annotated elements according to project labels and guidelines.
• Preserve correct reading order and logical document flow.
• Annotate complex layouts: multi-column text, forms, tables, and rotated pages.
• Flag ambiguous cases and suggest clarifications when guidelines are unclear.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow data security instructions.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in any field; preference for Technology, Engineering, or data-related disciplines.

• Core skills: strong attention to detail, ability to follow complex annotation guidelines, and basic understanding of document structures (text blocks, tables, forms, figures).
• Specific skills: experience drawing bounding boxes, applying classification rules, and preserving reading order in multi-column or form-heavy PDFs.
• Tools: familiarity with annotation tools or platforms is a plus but not required.
• Data handling: ability to maintain confidentiality and follow data security expectations.
