OpenTrain AI is seeking a Particle and Nuclear Physics AI Benchmark Task Designer to create and test difficult computational problems for advanced AI evaluation. You will use real particle and nuclear physics workflows, specialized scientific software, and strategic experiment design to produce graduate-level challenges that require meaningful reasoning.
Some tasks will require exact computation from a defined setup, while others will involve planning queries or experiments to uncover information that is not directly visible in the data. The role is listed at an entry level within AI training, but it requires graduate-level training or equivalent research experience in a relevant scientific field.
You will design original, research-grounded computational problems and refine them through testing against advanced AI models. You will also implement the technical infrastructure needed to run and evaluate these challenges, while accounting for scientific software behavior and edge cases.
This role requires strong scientific and programming expertise. You should be able to work independently on technically demanding benchmark problems, incorporate feedback, and operate in remote, terminal-based computing environments.
