About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect people to short, paid projects that help shape how modern AI systems behave, and support contributors as they grow in this fast‑moving field.

This project listing comes from OpenTrain AI and follows the platform's standard project workflow and templates.

  • Build experience in AI training and data collection.
  • Work remotely, choose flexible hours, and complete task from your smartphone.

About AI Training Work

AI training (also called data labeling or annotation) is the human work that teaches models to understand faces, voices, language and more. Contributors collect and label real examples—images, audio, text—that developers use to improve model accuracy and fairness.

Many projects are entry level: they require attention to detail, following instructions, and basic language skills rather than prior annotation experience.

  • You will contribute real images and metadata used to train facial recognition and age‑estimation models.
  • This project is part of routine supervised data collection used across the AI industry.

The Role

You will extract the chip‑stored biometric image from your NFC-enabled passport or national e‑ID using an approved reader app, then upload a set of new and historical photos plus a simple metadata file. The dataset helps AI learn to recognize faces and estimate age.

This is an entry‑level, one‑time task designed to take about one hour and does not require prior labeling experience—only careful following of the provided step‑by‑step instructions.

  • Project type: data collection (image).
  • Expected time: approximately 1 hour in a single sitting.
  • Pay: fixed price of USD $5 upon successful submission.

What You'll Provide

You must supply the exact photo files described below and a metadata CSV or JSON file using the template provided. Follow naming and folder conventions exactly; incorrect files or misnamed folders may cause rejection.

  • 1 × biometric chip image extracted directly from your NFC-enabled passport or national e‑ID (no screenshots or photos of the ID image).
  • 3 × fresh, full‑face selfies (neutral expression; mix indoor/outdoor lighting).
  • 2 × profile‑style photos from within the last 10 years.
  • 3 × historical digital photos showing earlier life stages (each at least 2–3 years apart; photos must be of you at age ≥ 12).
  • A CSV or JSON metadata file listing age or year taken, lighting, and pose for each image as instructed.

Requirements

To qualify you must meet all listed eligibility, identity, and hardware requirements. These are strict: only applicants who can supply all required assets and follow the upload workflow will be approved and paid.

  • Age: 18 years or older.
  • Residency: live in a country that issues NFC-enabled passports or e‑IDs.
  • Identity: own at least one NFC-enabled government ID (passport or national e‑ID).
  • Hardware: Android or iOS smartphone with working NFC and stable internet; ability to install and use an approved NFC-reader app (examples: ReadID Ready, Regula Reader).
  • Photo assets: ability to produce the biometric chip image and all required new and historical photos (historical photos must include dates or your age estimates).
  • Data-handling: basic English reading comprehension and careful attention to exact file/folder naming and metadata format.
  • Time & reliability: complete the full upload workflow in one sitting (~1 hour) and submit all items accurately by the stated deadline.

How The Workflow Works

You will receive step‑by‑step instructions and a folder + metadata template. Work in one session to extract the chip image with an approved app, capture or select the required photos, fill the CSV/JSON metadata, place files into the correct folders, and upload them for review.

Do not submit screenshots or photos of the ID image—only the chip extraction file is accepted. Follow the template precisely to avoid rejection.

  • Install an approved NFC-reader app and extract the chip image from your passport/e‑ID.
  • Take and select required selfies, profile shots, and historical digital photos.
  • Complete the provided CSV/JSON metadata template (age/year, lighting, pose) for each file.
  • Name files and folders exactly as instructed, upload everything in one session, and submit for review.

Payment, Role Type & Support

This is a contractor, part‑time data collection task with a fixed payment of USD $5 for the full completed task. The expected time to finish is roughly one hour; the role is classified as entry level and suitable for contributors who meet the technical and ID requirements.

Support materials (detailed instructions, file templates, and approved app names) will be provided when you accept the task. Please read all instructions carefully before beginning.

  • Payment: fixed price of $5 for the full set of deliverables.
  • Employment types: contractor, part‑time. Time commitment: less than 20 hours/week (one‑time ~1 hour task).
  • Support: templates and step‑by‑step upload instructions provided.

Privacy & Safety Notes

This task involves sensitive personal images (government ID and facial photos). Only participate if you are comfortable sharing these items for AI training and you meet the eligibility requirements. Follow all instructions carefully to ensure your submission meets project standards.

OpenTrain encourages contributors to read any consent and data‑use information provided with the task before uploading. Do not share ID details outside the approved workflow.

  • You must be the person depicted in all submitted photos and able to provide the biometric chip image from your own ID.
  • Screenshots or camera photos of the ID image are not accepted—only the chip extraction file produced by an approved reader app is valid.
