The Role
OpenTrain is seeking a Neuroscience Quality Assurance Lead to oversee neuroscience and cognitive science AI training projects. You will review AI-generated scientific content, evaluate trainer and QA work against project guidelines, provide precise written feedback, and help maintain consistent quality across the workflow.
Your reviews may cover scientific explanations, research summaries, experimental interpretations, brain-behavior claims, cognitive theory applications, and step-by-step reasoning. The work emphasizes factual accuracy, clarity, instruction-following, ethical awareness, and adherence to project rubrics.

What You'll Do
You will contribute to both hands-on scientific review and the systems that make quality assurance scalable. The role includes communicating project updates to trainers and QAs, answering questions about neuroscience and research methods, and supporting consistent interpretation of project expectations.
You will also help strengthen project documentation and onboarding resources, enabling remote contributors to apply scientific standards consistently across neuroscience and cognitive science training data.
- Spot-check neuroscience and cognitive science items for quality issues
- Review AI-generated explanations, summaries, and reasoning for accuracy and clarity
- Identify neuromyths, overclaiming, unsupported causal conclusions, and misleading clinical implications
- Assess terminology, experimental interpretations, research methods, and statistical caution
- Maintain style guides, trackers, FAQs, examples, honeypots, calibration tasks, and onboarding materials
- Communicate workflow updates and quality expectations to trainers and QAs
- Support scalable QA processes for neuroscience and cognitive science projects
Requirements
This role requires strong expertise in neuroscience or cognitive science and the ability to explain scientific quality decisions clearly in written English. You should be comfortable reviewing research-based content and recognizing when a claim exceeds the evidence or misrepresents a neural mechanism, study design, or brain-behavior relationship.
You must have at least three years of experience in neuroscience or cognitive science research, teaching, laboratory work, scientific review, science communication, experimental design, or data analysis.
- Strong background in neuroscience, cognitive science, psychology, neurobiology, computational neuroscience, or a closely related field
- Broad understanding of neural systems and brain-behavior relationships
- 3+ years of relevant research, teaching, laboratory, review, communication, design, or analysis experience
- Experience reviewing scientific explanations, research summaries, or rubric-based QA
- Ability to identify neuromyths, overclaiming, flawed interpretations, incorrect terminology, and unsupported conclusions
- Strong written English communication for feedback, coordination, and documentation
- Familiarity with evaluating neuroscience methods, research literacy, and statistical caution
Preferred Experience
The following experience is preferred and may help you contribute across a wider range of neuroscience and cognitive science projects. Experience supporting distributed teams is particularly useful for communicating quality standards and maintaining calibration.
- Familiarity with EEG, fMRI, behavioral experiments, computational modeling, statistics, Python, R, MATLAB, or literature review
- Experience supporting or leading remote teams of researchers, reviewers, educators, annotators, science writers, or QAs
