About AI Training Work

AI training (also called data labeling or annotation) is the human side of machine learning. People prepare and review examples—like transcriptions and quality checks—that models learn from. Contributors often work remotely, choose flexible hours, and play a direct role in shaping model behavior.

Most projects need attention to detail, language accuracy, and consistency rather than advanced technical skills. This role focuses on accurate, standardized verbatim transcription and simple verification steps for short Italian recordings.

  • 100% remote work from anywhere in your required location (Italy for this role)
  • Flexible, part-time cadence — fit tasks around your day
  • Work helps improve speech recognition and generation systems

The Role

We’re hiring native Italian speakers located in Italy to produce verbatim transcripts of short Italian audio clips and perform listening-based verification steps. This is long-term, ongoing work with a steady workload of about 1 hour per day on a flexible schedule (complete tasks each weekday).

You will use Labelbox (web-based annotation software) to transcribe audio, flag unclear segments, and select predefined verification options. No pre-labeled data is provided; you will create standardized text transcriptions from the audio.

  • Dataset: short Italian audio clips for transcription
  • Data type: Audio; label types: text generation and evaluation/rating (transcription + verification)
  • Tool: Labelbox (web-based labeling platform)
  • Employment type: Contractor, Part-time
  • Pay: $11.00 USD per hour

What You'll Do

Listen to short Italian recordings and produce clean, standardized verbatim transcripts that reflect exactly what was said. This is not translation or creative writing; follow strict transcription guidelines and conventions for punctuation, capitalization, and marking unclear audio.

Complete simple verification steps such as flagging unusable audio, marking segments you cannot confidently transcribe, and selecting predefined options to indicate audio quality or intelligibility. Consistency and accuracy are more important than speed.

  • Transcribe short Italian audio clips into standardized verbatim text
  • Mark unclear or unusable segments using prescribed conventions
  • Select verification/rating options to document audio quality
  • Follow detailed style and transcription rules without improvisation

Requirements

Applicants must be currently located in Italy and native-level Italian speakers with excellent written accuracy. Strong listening skills and the ability to apply strict transcription guidelines consistently are essential. Prior experience in transcription, captioning/subtitling, or speech data labeling/QA is preferred but not strictly required.

You must be able to commit to approximately 1 hour per day, Monday–Friday, for the long term (12+ months). A reliable internet connection, a computer suitable for web-based tools, quality headphones, and a quiet workspace are required. Candidates will complete a short Italian transcription screening sample before starting.
