About AI training and this type of work

AI training (data labeling/annotation) is the human side of building AI: people annotate, evaluate, and rate examples so models learn how to perform real tasks. Music-related annotation helps models match lyrics to appropriate sounds and styles.

Many projects are entry level and accessible: they require attention to detail, clear written explanations, and domain interest rather than prior AI experience.

The role

You will read long English song lyrics and listen to two different music tracks that represent different musical styles. Your job is to identify which track better fits the mood, rhythm, and content of the lyrics, and to write a clear explanation supporting your choice.

This is a rating/evaluation task (label type: EVALUATION_RATING) on audio content. Work is remote, part-time contracting, and must be performed while residing in Spain.

• Compare two audio tracks against one set of English lyrics and select the best match

What you'll do day-to-day

Typical subtasks focus on careful listening, reading comprehension, and clear written justification. Tasks are self-paced within project guidelines and do not require prior professional music industry experience—just a good ear and the ability to explain your choices.

• Read full song lyrics (in English) and listen to two candidate tracks
• Decide which track best fits the lyrics based on style, tempo, mood, and lyrical content
• Write a short, structured explanation in English describing your reasoning
• Follow annotation guidelines and quality checks provided by OpenTrain AI

Requirements

Applicants must meet all required qualifications below. Preferred qualifications are helpful but not mandatory.

• Minimum B1/B2 English comprehension—must state CEFR level during application
• Ability to write clear, concise explanations in English
• Must reside in Spain and have a reliable internet connection
• Attention to detail and the ability to compare music and lyrics effectively
• Familiarity with a wide range of music genres is highly preferred
• Entry-level friendly; role is offered as a contractor, part-time

Interview and application guidance

Applications and screening will include short qualifying tasks and open-ended questions. Follow the interview guidelines exactly: do not use yes/no prompts; ask applicants to provide their English level in CEFR format and list the music genres they listen to.

A short qualification test may ask you to rate a few lyric-track pairs and write explanations. Passing that test is required to receive ongoing tasks.

Pay, schedule, and logistics

All work is remote but must be completed while residing in Spain. You will need a stable internet connection and a device capable of playing audio.
