The Music And Sound Annotation Expert Role

As a Music and Sound Annotation Expert, you will evaluate short field recordings and document audible elements through a structured web platform. You will identify musical and environmental details, compare recordings, and provide concise evidence-based judgments about AI-generated descriptions.

The work requires exceptional analytical listening in noisy, real-world mixes rather than only isolated studio tracks. You should be comfortable applying music theory, making precise observations, and completing detailed, repetitive annotation tasks.

What You'll Do

You will listen to 30- to 90-second field recordings using professional headphones in a dedicated quiet workspace. Annotations will capture instruments, tempo, musical key, timestamps for background events, and overarching scene details.

You will also compare paired recordings of the same source material captured in different locations, critically judging structural and acoustic changes. In later project phases, you will review AI-generated descriptions and explain whether their details are accurate, inaccurate, or hallucinated.

• Identify individual instruments in busy, noisy, real-world recordings
• Determine tempo within a few beats per minute
• Determine musical key, with relative pitch and a reference tone accepted
• Timestamp background events such as traffic, sirens, and applause
• Record structured notes using dropdown menus, timestamping tools, and web forms
• Compare acoustic and structural differences across paired recordings
• Write concise, evidence-based explanations of AI output quality
• Complete quality control, validation, and benchmarking tasks
• Attend mandatory paid onboarding and calibration sessions
• Join short weekly sync meetings

Required Skills And Qualifications

You should have at least 3 years of hands-on professional, academic, or gigging experience in music or audio production. Strong English proficiency is required for writing clear notes such as identifying when an instrument enters a recording.
