The Role

OpenTrain AI is recruiting a Military and Veteran Mental Health AI Training Expert to provide specialized clinical judgment for mental health AI development. You will review mental health materials, case studies, and simulated patient interactions relevant to service members and veterans.

The work combines clinical review, feedback on AI-generated content, prompt and scenario development, and clear documentation. Particular attention will be given to military and veteran terminology, cultural context, and communication needs.

This project is listed at the entry level, while the role itself requires completed advanced clinical training and substantial direct patient-care experience.

What You'll Do

You will apply clinical expertise to assess whether AI-related content is accurate, relevant, sensitive, and appropriate for military and veteran audiences. You will also help create training examples that reflect real-world mental health challenges experienced by these populations.

Your findings and recommendations should be documented in a clear, structured, and accessible format for project teams and other audiences.

  • Review mental health materials, case studies, and simulated patient interactions
  • Evaluate content against clinical best practices, diagnostic processes, and therapeutic approaches
  • Create, edit, and curate prompts, responses, and scenarios
  • Identify military and veteran terminology, cultural nuances, and effective communication techniques
  • Participate in virtual discussions and consultative sessions
  • Document findings, recommendations, and potential model improvements
  • Perform evaluation and rating and prompt or response writing for supervised fine-tuning

Requirements

Applicants should have completed a psychiatry residency or earned a PhD as a clinical psychologist, together with substantial direct patient-care experience involving military personnel, veterans, or both. Clinical accuracy, cultural competence, attention to detail, and strong written and verbal communication are essential.

You should be comfortable translating complex clinical concepts for varied audiences and evaluating diagnostic and therapeutic content. Experience developing or reviewing clinical content, training materials, or assessment tools is valuable.
