About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for people building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help clinicians and specialists find and grow freelance, expert work that directly shapes how AI behaves while you build a unified AI training portfolio you control.

OpenTrain AI is the hiring and contracting organization for this role.

Why AI training matters for clinicians

AI training is the human side of building medical AI—experts prepare, review, and improve examples that teach models to reason safely and accurately in clinical scenarios. This work is remote, flexible, and gives clinicians a direct role in shaping how AI systems understand diagnosis, triage, test interpretation, and treatment planning.

  • Work remotely from a computer and contribute your clinical expertise to state-of-the-art medical AI.
  • Flexible, part-time contractor work that fits alongside clinical or academic schedules.

The role

You will use your specialist clinical experience to review AI-generated clinical answers, create expert content, and judge the quality of clinical reasoning. The focus is accuracy, patient safety, differential diagnosis, appropriate escalation, and well-explained medical reasoning that can become gold-standard training data.

  • Position type: Contractor, Part-time (20+ hours/week).
  • Data type: TEXT; label type: TEXT_GENERATION.

What you'll do

  • Review AI-generated clinical answers for accuracy, clarity, safety, and adherence to prompts.
  • Identify issues in differential diagnosis, triage, risk stratification, and escalation decisions.
  • Fact-check medical information and produce high-quality explanations and model solutions.
  • Compare multiple responses and rate them on correctness and reasoning quality.
  • Develop prompts and gold-standard answers across topics aligned to your specialty.
  • Test AI outputs for unsafe recommendations, contraindications, bias, and internal inconsistencies.

Requirements

We require demonstrated specialist clinical experience and strong clinical-reasoning skills. Preserve patient-safety judgment in every review and be able to communicate corrections and rationales clearly in written English.

  • MD or DO with completed specialty training and board eligibility or certification.
  • 5+ years of post-training clinical experience in your specialty.
  • Advanced clinical reasoning in diagnosis, triage, and treatment planning.
  • Advanced differential diagnosis skills and prioritization of can-not-miss conditions.
  • Risk stratification experience for outpatient, observation, and admission decisions.
  • Ability to interpret diagnostic tests using pre-test probability and clinical context.
  • Clinical safety judgment for unsafe recommendations, contraindications, and red flags.
  • Minimum English proficiency: C1 (advanced) for clear written medical explanations.
  • Prior experience with AI data training, guideline work, utilization review, clinical documentation review, or healthcare editorial QA is strongly preferred.

Compensation, schedule, and eligibility

Pay is $150 USD per hour. This is a contractor, part-time engagement requiring 20+ hours per week. You will be paid as a contractor by OpenTrain AI.

  • Hourly rate: $150 USD/hour.
  • Time commitment: 20+ hours per week (part-time contractor).
  • Eligible countries: BD, BT, BR, KH, DE, IN, ID, MY, NP, PK, SG, LK, TH, PH, US, TL, VN.
  • Work is remote but limited to the countries listed above; worldwide applicants outside these countries cannot be accepted for this posting.

Who should apply

Apply if you are a specialist clinician who wants to help shape safe, accurate medical AI and can translate clinical judgments into clear, teachable feedback. This role suits experienced physicians who enjoy clinical reasoning, guideline-based review, and producing written medical explanations.

  • Ideal for board-certified/board-eligible specialists with clinical QA or editorial experience.
  • Good fit for clinicians seeking flexible, high-impact part-time work in AI training.
