About OpenTrain

OpenTrain AI is the hiring and contracting organization for this remote opportunity. OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling, helping people discover projects, build a professional profile, and apply to work shaping the future of artificial intelligence.

About AI Training and Data Labeling

AI training is the human side of building modern artificial intelligence. Experts prepare examples, write and evaluate model responses, and create structured reasoning data so AI systems can produce more accurate and useful results. This work is remote and can offer flexible opportunities to people with specialized knowledge.

The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a Medical Biostatistics Chart Analysis Expert to create high-quality reasoning data for AI training and evaluation. You will interpret complex clinical and epidemiological visualizations, develop rigorous questions from graphical data, and explain answers using accurate medical and biostatistical reasoning.

This is a remote, part-time contractor role open worldwide. The expected time commitment is 20+ hours per week, with compensation of $25–$50 per hour.

  • Engagement: Part-time contractor
  • Location: Worldwide and fully remote
  • Time commitment: 20+ hours per week
  • Compensation: $25–$50 per hour
  • Working language: English

What You'll Do

You will turn medical and biostatistical charts into clear, objective training and evaluation tasks. Your work should be technically precise, unambiguous, and supported by explanations that make the reasoning process easy to follow.

  • Interpret Kaplan-Meier curves, forest plots, ROC curves, hazard-ratio plots, and related medical or epidemiological charts.
  • Analyze axes, legends, units, scales, confidence intervals, p-values, and other statistical annotations with professional accuracy.
  • Draft objective, multi-step questions involving graphical interpretation, comparisons, calculations, trend analysis, and data interpolation.
  • Provide precise answers with step-by-step explanations of calculations, statistical inferences, or clinical judgments.
  • Design reasoning assignments that avoid subjective or ambiguous wording and support AI model training and evaluation.
  • Collaborate reliably through written and verbal communication, incorporate feedback, and maintain consistent quality.

Required Knowledge and Experience

This opportunity is listed at the entry level, while relevant academic, professional, or research experience is preferred. Candidates should be able to apply medical and biostatistical concepts accurately when analyzing visual data and constructing reasoning tasks.

  • A bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in medicine, epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, or a closely related clinical or quantitative field is preferred.
  • Two or more years of professional, academic, or research experience interpreting clinical trial data, survival analyses, or epidemiological visualizations is preferred.
  • Advanced understanding of medical chart structure, including axes, legends, units, scales, confidence intervals, and statistical annotations.
  • Ability to construct objective, multi-step questions from graphical data.
  • Ability to explain calculations, statistical inferences, and clinical judgment clearly.
  • Strong written and spoken English.
  • Precise use of medical and biostatistical terminology.

Helpful Background

The following experience may be especially useful when developing reliable medical reasoning data and evaluation tasks.

  • Technical documentation or scientific publishing
  • Assessment or analytical task development
  • Structured clinical data annotation
  • Benchmark-question creation
  • AI model evaluation
  • Bilingual ability in English and another language relevant to medical or research practice

Why This Work Matters

Every major AI system depends on examples prepared and reviewed by people. In this role, your medical and biostatistical expertise can help shape how AI systems interpret clinical evidence, reason about visual data, and communicate analytical conclusions.

  • Work remotely from anywhere in the world.
  • Use specialized medical and quantitative expertise in a fast-growing AI field.
  • Contribute directly to AI training and evaluation.
  • Build experience in a developing area of technical and scientific work.
