The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting a Medical Biostatistics Chart Analysis Expert to create high-quality reasoning data for AI training and evaluation. You will interpret complex clinical and epidemiological visualizations, develop rigorous questions from graphical data, and explain answers using accurate medical and biostatistical reasoning.

This is a remote, part-time contractor role marked as entry level, with a time requirement of 20 or more hours per week. Compensation is $25-$50 per hour. The role is open worldwide and requires English.

What You'll Do

You will turn medical and epidemiological charts into objective, multi-step reasoning tasks. Your work must distinguish clearly between what a visualization shows, what can be calculated from it, and what statistical or clinical conclusions are supported by the data.

You will also provide precise answers with step-by-step explanations and maintain consistent quality while collaborating through written and verbal communication. Feedback should be incorporated reliably throughout the work.

• Interpret Kaplan-Meier curves, forest plots, ROC curves, hazard-ratio plots, and related charts
• Analyze axes, legends, units, scales, confidence intervals, p-values, and statistical annotations
• Write objective questions involving graphical interpretation, comparisons, calculations, trend analysis, and data interpolation
• Explain calculations, statistical inferences, and clinical judgments clearly
• Design assignments that avoid subjective or ambiguous wording
• Collaborate reliably, incorporate feedback, and maintain consistent quality

Requirements and Helpful Background

A bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in medicine, epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, or a closely related clinical or quantitative field is preferred. Two or more years of professional, academic, or research experience interpreting clinical trial data, survival analyses, or epidemiological visualizations is also preferred.

Advanced understanding of medical chart structure is important, including axes, legends, units, scales, confidence intervals, and statistical annotations. Strong written and spoken English, clear analytical explanations, and precise use of medical and biostatistical terminology are essential.

Experience in technical documentation, scientific publishing, assessment or analytical task development, structured clinical data annotation, benchmark-question creation, or AI model evaluation can be especially useful. Bilingual ability in English and another language relevant to medical or research practice is also helpful.
